Ballon Boy Parents Plead Guilty

The parents of 'balloon boy' Falcon Heene are to plead guilty to charges, their lawyer says.

Father Richard Heene is to admit attempting to influence a public servant, whilt mother Mayumi Heene will admit false reporting to authorities.

Falcon's disappearance became a worldwide media drama but he was later found hiding at home.

Speculation soon started to mount that the parents had engineered the incident as a publicity stunt.

According to a statement from their lawyer David Lane, Mrs Heene will admit a misdemeanour and her husband a felony.

Mr Lane said Mr Heene agreed to "fall on his sword" by admitting the felony charge to prevent his wife - a Japanese national - being ordered out of the US.

The statement said the stipulated sentences for both are probation, with the possibility of up to 60 days in jail for Mrs Heene and up to 90 days for Mr Heene.

Robert Enke- A Tribute

My thoughts go out to the family of Robert Enke, the clubs he played for and the players he played with, as well as the whole of German football. He was a strong first choice to play for Germany in South Africa next summer and he will be a great loss to the team.

Enke commited suicide on Tuesday after a long battle with depression over the death of his two-year old daughter in 2006. His wife Teresa Enke said he kept his illness a secret from the public because he was afraid their eight-month old adopted daughter would be taken away.

Barcelona held a minutes silence in their last game, against Cultural Leonesa, and Tenerife will pay tribute in their next game against Sevilla a week on Sunday.

Enke will be buried on Sunday in a small ceremony close to his home following a memorial service at the Hannover stadium.

Welcome!

Well, firstly it would be rude of me not to say welcome, and thanks for visiting this blog. My aim is to cover a broad range of different areas of stuff that interestes me. That will most likely consist of Burnley FC (and general football topics) and car news, occasionally sprinkled with news links from various places on the web and some general musings on these topics and stuff I come across in the media and my day-to-day life.

A little bit about myself, I'm almost 23 and I'm studying journalism at University College Falmouth. I'm actually on placement with the Burnley Express at this very moment and loving being able to indulge my claret and blue tooth, I even met Wade Elliot on Tuesday. Bloody nice bloke too. I'm also a car enthusiast and am in the midst of a project to convert my Clio from a French midwife's shopping trolley into a Williams engined street sleeper.

Alongside these two main interests I love music. I love ska and punk but mostly I like music based on quality control, so if it showcases good musicianship I'll appreciate it.

Anyway now that I've done the ego-inflating self assessment thing I'm going to start writing some proper entries.

One love.
